A person whose goal is to increase flexibility must remember this is a tool to help decrease the possibility of injury before exercising. When you stretch muscles
and tendons, their blood supply is increased, and this in turn increases their
elasticity and speeds up muscle contraction time. Another benefit of stretching
is that it increases the range of motion around the joint. Other benefits relate the
mind, translates the body from inaction to action.
