Tennis Court Policies and Procedures:
All members and guests must check in at the pro shop or designated area before any tennis activity.
Proper tennis attire is required. Men must wear shirts at all times. No tank tops, sleeveless shirts or cut-off sleeves for men and no aerobic wear for women. Tights or biking shorts must be covered up with shorts or skirts. Shirts must cover jog bras.
Shoes designated for tennis only. No running shoes or marking sole shoes allowed at any time.
No smoking on Courthouse property at any time.
No tobacco products, chewing gum, food or candy of any kind allowed on the courts.
No abusive language, yelling or screaming. No racquet throwing or defamation of Courthouse property allowed.
Please use the proper entrance for your court and wait until your designated time to play before entering the court area—especially indoors.
Children may never roam freely around the courts.
Unattended children or infants in strollers are not allowed on, by, or near the courts at any time. Unattended children are defined as: “Children who are not actually playing tennis on the court with a parent or guardian or not in constant supervision of a parent or guardian.”
Please help keep your club clean by disposing of all trash in proper receptacle.
Tennis Court Reservation Policies:
Only Courthouse members with tennis privileges can reserve a tennis court at any of the three Courthouse locations with tennis courts.
All courts must be reserved before being played on. You may make the reservation in person or over the phone. Only one court per call for any given day. Courts are reserved in 1.5 hour increments beginning at 6am Monday-Friday, 7:30am on Saturday, and 12pm on Sunday. (i.e. 6-7:30am, 7:30-9am, 9-10:30am and so on until 9pm or closing time)
Outdoor courts may be reserved 4 days in advance at all clubs that offer tennis. There are no additional court fees for outdoor courts. We will not take reservations prior to 8:00am 4 days out for outdoor courts.
Indoor courts may be reserved 2 days in advance. (Northeast club only) We will not take reservations prior to 8:00am 2 days out for indoor courts.
Indoor court fees are as follows:
November 1-March 31 (Winter rates) $20 per court*
April 1-October 31 (Summer rates) $12 per court*
*Rates are subject to change
No consecutive reservations by any one person or a group at any time. If a court is available at the completion of play, then and only then may you reserve a court to continue your match.
There is a 15-minute grace period for all court reservations and 30 minutes for the ball machine. After the grace period, the court can be given away to someone wanting to play on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Cancellations for all courts must be made at least 3 hours in advance of court time; otherwise, the member will be charged a late cancellation fee of $10 for outdoor courts and the current fee for indoor courts depending on the time of year. There will be no late cancellation fee if the canceled court gets filled.
“No shows” will be charged a no show fee, which is the same amount as a late cancellation fee. Courts will be checked 30 minutes after reservation times to make sure all courts are correctly occupied. The person who reserved the court must occupy the court. No exceptions. Social round robin play is allowed if on more than one court.
If you want to practice or drill with a partner or family member with a basket of balls, please do not do this on the outdoor hard courts at Northeast due to the fact there is no barrier between the courts and balls from your court will disturb play on adjoining courts.
Due to the high amount of member play, Courthouse league teams wishing to practice on Courthouse courts “as a team” will not be allowed to reserve more than one court for a designated team practice. However, members may reserve courts under normal court reservation policies and have your team members play at that time. Non-members on your team are subject to guest fees.
Guest Fees and Policies:
All guests must check-in/register prior to play and be paid for.
Courthouse Racquet & Fitness guest policy is the same for all activities at all club locations–$10 per guest per visit.
If your guest fails to check-in/register, the person who made the court reservation will be billed for the guest fee(s) amount.
League Teams:
The Courthouse Racquet & Fitness Clubs are involved in the Jackson metro area tennis leagues, as well as in-house leagues (Courthouse tennis members only) during the winter and summer months.
The weekday morning league is the Jackson Ladies Tennis Association or called “JLTA.” This league is played during the spring and fall only.
USTA Leagues are played in the spring, summer, and fall. They are mostly played during the nighttime hours. Depending on the time of year, there are men’s, women’s and mixed teams to choose from.
All Courthouse Racquet & Fitness league teams are allowed a maximum of 2 non-Courthouse tennis members per roster.
Ball Machine Rental:
The Courthouse Racquet & Fitness Clubs have a ball machine at the Northeast facility. In the future we may be able to have a ball machine at our Byram location. Only members with tennis privileges may use the ball machine at any location. Please see below:
Northeast Club
The ball machine is to be used on the first indoor court (#13) only. Sign check out from and pick up balls at front desk - to be returned after use of ball machine.
Policies for Ball Machine Use:
Ball machine rental is $12 for 1.5 hours, except for members of the Ball Machine Club.
The annual charge for the Ball Machine Club is $100 for an individual or $125 for a family (husband, wife, and children). Effective August 1, 2009.
All players using the ball machine must be tennis members of The Courthouse and must check in prior to using the ball machine.
If a member of the Ball Machine Club wants to share the ball machine with another tennis member of The Courthouse, that member must either join the Ball Machine Club or must pay the applicable portion (e. g. $6 if one person is sharing the ball machine with the Ball Machine Club member) of the ball machine rental fee for that session.
Players must use the ball machine if they have reserved the court for ball machine use, i.e. regular (non ball machine) play is not allowed. However, serves may be practiced for a portion of the time. Regular indoor court fees should be paid if regular play is performed.
The ball machine should be put away and all the tennis balls (check for balls outside the court area and behind the screens, as well) should be picked up and returned to the proper area by the end of the scheduled time.
NO ONE under the age of 12 may use the ball machine without parental supervision.
Information for Ball Machine Use at Northeast Club Only:
Members of the Ball Machine Club may reserve the ball machine during non-prime time hours (see below) and not pay a court fee. The 2 day in-advance Indoor Court reservation policy will be followed.
Members of the Ball Machine Club have to pay the applicable court fees if wanting to reserve a court during prime time hours (see below) and use the ball machine.
Non Ball Machine Club members wanting to use the ball machine may reserve a court at anytime and pay the applicable court fees in addition to the ball machine fee.
If court #13 is available for one hour or less of the time wishing to use the ball machine, no court fees will apply, and only ball machine fees will apply to non Ball Machine Club members.
Effective Immediately – June 23, 2010
Two baskets of tennis balls will be left behind the front desk designated for ball machine use ONLY. This means no one will be allowed to use these tennis balls for anything else such as practice, drilling with another player, etc.
Anyone wishing to use the ball machine will have to check out the baskets of balls designated for the ball machine and sign a check out form after your membership is cleared.
After using the ball machine and putting the ball machine back in its proper area, the person that checked the balls out will return the two baskets full of proper tennis balls to the front desk.
In the event that the proper tennis balls are not returned and/or the ball machine is not returned to its proper place, your club account will be charged $25.
No one is allowed to use their personal ball machine at any Courthouse facility or bring your own tennis balls to use with any Courthouse ball machine.
We hope that you understand and this will not be a major issue as long as you pick up the tennis balls at the front desk, return the ball machine to its proper area and return the two baskets full of the proper balls to the front desk.
Non-prime time hours: 6am, 7:30am, 12pm, 1:30pm, 3pm, 9pm
Prime Time hours: 9am, 10:30am, 4:30pm, 6pm, 7:30pm and all day on Saturdays and Sundays
