Super Healthy Super Bowl Snacks

The U.S. Calorie Control Council estimates that 11 million pounds of chips are consumed by Americans on Super Bowl Sunday.  Plus, the average person eats a day’s worth of calories during the game alone. Here are some ideas from Health.com and EatingWell.com for less sinful snacking at the party (just click the links for the recipes):

  • Lemon-drop Chicken Wings: Baked, not fried–these spiked wings boast a tangy lemon flavor.  Plan ahead, though, they must marinate for 2 hours and prep/cook time is about 1.5 hours.
  • Warm Spinach & Artichoke Dip: You can enjoy a cheesy dip–this recipe’s got Parmesan, mozzarella and cream cheeses in it–and still reap the benefits of the iron-rich spinach.
  • Mini Turkey Burgers with Gorgonzola: These little burgers pack lots of protein and flavor.
  • Chocolate Crunch: An addicting, low-calorie & low-cholesterol snack with high fiber.  Yes, please!
